2 Days of Quaintness in Strasbourg & Colmar

When I was researching for my first ever Europe trip, I knew that I wanted to visit another France city aside from Paris. I wanted to see the quieter side of it, a smaller city. After much researching and considering my commutation options, I was sold on the idea of visiting Colmar. One major pull factor was the photos of Colmar. Both the city and commune of Alsace region, eastern France, looked similar and equally mesmerizing in photos – wooden framed houses, flowers of vivid hues and boats cruising/resting lazily on river. I decided to spend a day to travel from Barcelona to Strasbourg, using the latter as base and take a day trip, out of the 2 days I had, to Colmar. Hola Barcelona! – A Dose of Liveliness

“Hola! How are you? Are you hungry? Okay, go and have your dinner first. We can have the briefing tomorrow!” my jolly Barcelona hostel receptionist hollered and whisked the half-dead me to the kitchen where the daily free dinner beckoned. Dinner was dried-up pasta with cheese and lots of sangria. Hip hop/ rock boomed from the reception, people were still hanging around the dining area…it was midnight and BCN was far from sleepy.
